“October 28 [2004]. For the 13th consecutive year, the UN [United Nations] General Assembly votes overwhelmingly against the U.S. embargo on Cuba. The vote is 179 to 4, with 1 abstention. Voting with the U.S. for the embargo are Israel, Palau and the Marshall Islands. In the only speech loudly applauded on the assembly floor, Cuba’s Foreign Minister Felipe Perez Roughe states: ‘The U.S. government has unleashed a worldwide genocidal economic war against Cuba. It is the government of a large and mighty empire, but it is afraid of the example of a small rebellious island.’” [Con Embargo]
